About

Serving wonderful East Anglia, UK

I live in Ipswich, Suffolk and place hives in small groups known as Apiaries across the whole of East Anglia. Known in the beekeeping world as 'out apiaries' because they are not at your home. Generally I keep the numbers of hives in any one apiary to no more than 10. This way the immediate surrounding area is not over populated with one pollinator species. It also helps to stop the spread of diseases effecting too many hives at the same time.

I look for people who have land they would like to have bees on and after a site visit to assess suitability I am able to bring some hives along and populate them with bees.

Local community is at the core of everything I do and I often find contacts within the community spread the word and I am able to create a group of apiaries in the neighborhood. This makes managing the hives a lot easier and reduces driving time. When time permits I am very keen to attend local community events with the stall to give out information and sell honey. Community shops and local businesses are ideal places to sell the honey through thus ensuring it is truly local food.

I am passionate about supporting fellow beekeepers, and I believe it's crucial for us to come together as a network. In our region, some hobbyist beekeepers occasionally find themselves with an excess of honey that they can't sell. Since their honey is just as raw and natural as mine, I happily purchase it from them to sell.
